Psychotherapy at WIENER COUCH - expertise since 2017
Psychotherapy is a scientifically based healing method that can help:
Reducing mental suffering
Strengthen interpersonal relationships
Permanently improve your own quality of life and that of others
If you would like to take advantage of psychotherapy, it is advisable to consult at least one specialist in psychiatrybeforehand. A specialist can clarify or rule out possible medical or physical causes for your suffering.
Psychotherapy is on an equal footing with other healing methods such as medical or clinical-psychological treatments. The practice and training of psychotherapy has been strictly regulated by law in Austria since 1991(Psychotherapy Act, Federal Law Gazette 1990/361), and the title of psychotherapist is protected by law. There are currently 23 scientifically recognized psychotherapeutic methods approved in Austria.
Quality assurance at WIENER COUCH
All WIENER COUCH psychotherapists are registered with the Federal Ministry of Health. Further requirements for our therapists are
At least 1 year of professional experience
Necessary additional training (e.g. trauma, couples therapy, sexuality, etc.)
Regular internal training and supervision
Economy therapy
In our second practice, the WIENER COUCH DREI (Bayerngasse 1, II/Top 15, 1030 Vienna), we offer psychotherapy at reduced rates for clients under certain conditions (44 €). Please note that there may be waiting times of up to 5 weeks.
As a rule, a psychotherapeutic process lasts at least one year with weekly to fortnightly sessions of 50 minutes each (psychoanalysis up to 3 times a week) or 180 minutes fortnightly in a group. You can find our prices here.
Psychotherapists are subject to a statutory, absolute duty of confidentiality (§ 15 PthG). This protects the relationship of trust between client and therapist, which is essential for successful therapy.
The initial consultation
You will get to know your therapist personally during the initial consultation. Here you can clarify therapy goals, treatment options and organizational questions. It is important that you feel understood and in good hands.
Are you unsure which method, setting or therapist is right for you? We would be happy to advise you:
📧 info@wienercouch.at | 📞 0676 3944 071
Topics of the initial meeting:
What are your goals?
How does the therapist assess your treatment needs?
What is the expected duration?
How high are the costs? Are there health insurance models or private subsidies?
What are the rules for cancelations and vacations?
Does psychiatric support make sense?
The psychotherapy process
The course of therapy is individual and depends on your complaints, goals and the therapeutic relationship. Possible fields of work are
Self-reflection: mindfulness, self-awareness, personal development.
Relationships: Bonding experiences, ability to meet, social conflicts.
Life stories and roles: What do you tell yourself about your life and your experiences?
Stress and regulation mechanisms: dealing with stress, strengthening resources and developing potential.
The training of our therapists
Psychotherapists undergo a 6-year training program that combines theory, practice and self-awareness:
250 hours of self-awareness in individual and group settings
1,000 hours of internships
600 hours of therapy under supervision
Psychotherapists in training under supervision (i.A.u.S.)already work independently, but regularly discuss their cases with experienced supervisors. Therapy with a therapist in training is usually around 20% cheaper, but is not reimbursed by health insurance. Private insurance companies reimburse up to 80% of the costs, depending on the tariff. Please contact your insurance company for more information.
