Personality disorders - Diagnostics

A person's personality refers to the totality of their characteristics and traits, i.e. their experience and behavior. This includes a person's individual and long-term patterns of thinking, feeling and acting.

Personality disorders are therefore defined as problems that are related to a person's personality.

These problems can be seen in

  • Difficulties in relationships with other people
  • an altered self-perception
  • Low stress tolerance or high emotional tension
  • A high level of suffering
  • A reduced quality of life

Treatment as part of psychological therapy or psychotherapy aims to change impairing patterns of experience and behavior and reduce the level of suffering. In addition, a combination with psychopharmacological therapy can be useful to alleviate stressful symptoms (e.g. anxiety, mood swings). The indication for this must be made in consultation with a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapeutic medicine.

A careful clinical-psychological diagnosis is essential for planning further treatment steps in order to adapt them to the individual problems of the person concerned.

Diagnostics

An examination by a specialist in psychiatry should always take place before the clinical-psychological diagnosis. A detailed assessment of experience and behavior as well as a recommendation for the next steps is then made as part of the clinical-psychological diagnosis.

The clinical-psychological diagnostics (50 min/unit) includes the following elements:

1 unit: anamnesis, exploratory discussion (150 € /50 min.)
1-3 units: Specification of standardized diagnostic instruments (questionnaires, interviews) (150 € /50 min.)
Findings and 1 unit: discussion of findings (300 €)
