A couple's relationship - like any other relationship - is subject to a process and goes through various phases: Most couples experience the first phase as "romantic love", which is strongly biologically supported and is then followed by highs and lows, but also "unromantic" moments in the relationship. In couples therapy, you learn to identify with your role as a (married) partner again - even under stress.
Many couples are dominated by the idea that the state of "romantic love" should last a lifetime. However, autonomy and one's own identity become more important again over the course of a relationship and are part of a love relationship without it having to break up.
Couples therapy can help to ensure that re-enactments of parent or parent-child relationships experienced in childhood do not become risks for couples or lead to the end of the relationship. The attachment styles of the partners also play an important role and, in the event of stress, are decisive in whether the relationship is abandoned or perceived as a challenge. An insecure attachment style often leads to the end of the relationship. A secure attachment style can be gradually "learned" in therapy and subsequently acquired.
A stable couple's relationship is built on 3 pillars: Values, the relationship in everyday life together and sexuality. If 2 out of 3 pillars are shaky, it is often already too late. As soon as one pillar is shaky, you should undergo couples therapy. Here are a few typical problems for which couples therapy can be helpful:
Relationship in everyday life together:
- when arguing takes up more time than enjoyable experiences
- if you talk past each other or conversations escalate
- if you can't do anything to please your partner
- if your partner does not assume joint responsibility
- when relationship problems determine everyday life
Sexuality:
- when cheating has a destructive effect
- if there has been an external relationship and you want to deal with it
- If you no longer want to or can no longer sleep with your partner
- when jealousy puts a strain on the relationship
- if you suffer from pornography addiction
Values:
- if you want to decide whether you should separate or work on the relationship
- if you have an unfulfilled desire to have children
- Education of the children
- Lifestyles
Individual therapy can also be more useful for couples' issues in some cases:
- if your partner does not (yet) want to come with you
- if you want to discuss "sensitive" topics in private first
- when cheating is an issue
- if you are unhappy in your relationship but at the same time feel that you cannot live without the other person
- if you want to talk about sexual issues without your partner
- if you do not know whether it is better to continue or separate
PARTNER CHECK WITH PERSONALITY ANALYSIS
If you know yourself and your partner well, you are better able to develop an understanding of your own needs and behaviors as well as those of the other person - this makes it easier to overcome challenging phases together or to strengthen each other and the relationship.
The Linc Personality Profiler Partner Check gives you an insight into your character traits, those of your partner and your relationship based on a scientifically sound personality analysis. This is because the partner check clearly compares the personality profiles of two people based on the Ocean Model (Big Five) from personality research.
The partner check also includes an analysis of your attachment styles - these represent recurring patterns of behavior in close relationships and often have a strong influence on them.
In addition to presenting the personality profiles of both users, the partner check also includes information on attachment styles. Both parties have the opportunity to assess themselves and their partner.
Suitable for:
- Working with couples of all kinds in the context of couples counseling, coaching and similar counseling processes
Your benefit...
As with the business variant, a clear and comprehensible presentation of the differences and similarities between the two personalities creates a better understanding of the other and the basis for a successful consulting process.
Consisting of...
- Both users receive a self-assessment in the form of the 34-page LINC PERSONALITY PROFILER report
- Self-assessment and(optional) external assessment of character and motives
- Extra: Analysis of attachment styles that represent recurring patterns of behavior in the context of close relationships and arise from the personality
Procedure...
- In a 30-minute online process, the psychologically sound personality analysis determines your strengths and motives, and partners can also assess each other if they wish.
- In a 100-minute reflection meeting, we discuss the results of your partner check together and work out the first concrete measures for your further development as a couple
