Osteopathy is a holistic form of manual therapy based on the basic disciplines of conventional medicine.
The focus here is on a holistic view of the human body as a functional unit. Physical pain can have a wide variety of causes. The pain region itself is not always the trigger; the discomfort can also originate from a blockage or disorder in another part of the body. Osteopathic treatment is individually tailored, taking into account a variety of factors and involves all of the person's systems:
- Structural-functional system: includes the entire musculoskeletal system (spine, skeleton, joints, muscles, fasciae, tendons and ligaments)
- Visceral system: deals with the activity of internal organs and the tension system of the organ fasciae
- Craniosacral system: focuses on the skull, the temporomandibular joint, the nervous system, the sacrum and the meninges
All three are part of every human being and are anatomically and physiologically interconnected. Treatment of one system therefore often leads to changes or improvements in another part of the body. For example, a functional disorder of the intestine can be the cause of back pain. Treatment can be preventative, curative, palliative or complementary in many areas.
What is the difference between physiotherapy and osteopathy?
Osteopathy and physiotherapy both pursue a common healing goal, but differ in the way they are carried out. The main difference is that osteopathic treatment activates the body's ability to heal itself. I mainly work with my hands to treat functional disorders in various structures of the body. In physiotherapy treatments, the focus is on the patient's activity in order to restore movement functions. I will help you to achieve optimum freedom of movement and freedom from pain, tailored to your needs.
