Individual psychology

Alfred Adler, the founder of individual psychology, said that all suffering has to do with interpersonal relationships, as people are social beings and cannot exist without society.

The pain of separation, heartache, conflicts... all of this arises because we are not alone in this world. Even the feeling of loneliness only arises because of this, because if we were completely alone in the world, we wouldn't have any longing for relationships and therefore wouldn't even know the feeling of loneliness.

Relationship is the all-dominant, eternal theme (and often also a mystery) of human beings. The processing of this in therapy is of essential importance, whereby the relationship between client and therapist is also very much at stake.
