2026/27 Annual Trauma Group: Body-Oriented Trauma Work at the Wiener Couch

10. September 2026 @ 17:30 - 27. Januar 2027 @ 20:30

Trauma isn't just in the event itself or in what happened to us—it's primarily in our bodies and nervous systems.

Trauma often manifests itself in different ways:

We can’t move forward because the past keeps catching up with us.
Physical symptoms intensify, while emotions seem to be “frozen.”
Sometimes we feel nothing at all—or too much all at once.

Trauma can feel like inner chaos: Everything overwhelms us, and we don't know where to start.

Trauma often makes it difficult to be ourselves. Shame can be overwhelming, relationships can suffer as a result, and we feel alone—or we actually are.

For the fifth consecutive time, our body-oriented trauma therapy group at the Wiener Couch is focusing on mindful trauma resolution, self-regulation, and co-regulation.

Trauma often arises in relationships. That is why a safe space with stable, mindful, and reliable relationships is necessary to foster new experiences of safety, connection, and regulation.

Procedure and Methods

Each group session follows a clear and structured framework:

  • From the Outside to the Inside: Spatial Orientation and Neurosomatic Meditation for Finding Your Place
  • Opening Round: Each person shares something about themselves to help everyone feel at ease and connect with one another
  • Theoretical input from the group leader
  • Body-Oriented Exercises
  • A volunteer brings up a personal topic, which is then addressed using the methods introduced in the theoretical section
  • In-depth exploration of the topic in small groups
  • Closing Meditation: Metta Meditation
