Psychoanalytic Group (Annika Marie Schraml and Ramtin Adibi)

Starting in September 2024, Annika Marie Schraml and Ramtin Adibi will lead a psychoanalytic group.

A psychodynamic group offers the opportunity to share new experiences with others in a social setting.

Interpersonal problems, in particular, become immediately apparent within the group. Here, participants can learn a great deal about social behavior through feedback. Group therapy provides a safe space; at the same time, it serves as a training ground where participants can experiment with and adjust their social interactions. Participants can learn to trust others, build relationships with them, and open up. This can often have a cathartic effect: “I’ve never told anyone this before.”

The group functions as a social microcosm in which participants serve as models for one another and jointly develop mutual counseling and problem-solving skills. This “being there for one another” can also lead to increased self-esteem by conveying a sense of being needed. Finally, it should be emphasized that the group is very cost-effective, as it reduces treatment costs. For a number of disorders, group therapy is likely the method of choice, particularly for complex disorders of interactive behavior.
