Dr. Gernot Fugger was born in 1984 in Friesach, Carinthia. After studying medicine at the Medical University of Vienna, he completed his specialist training with a therapeutic focus on cognitive behavioral therapy at the University Hospital Tulln and at the University Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the General Hospital of the City of Vienna, where he worked for several years as a full-time senior physician in both clinical and university research and teaching. From January 2023, he headed the psychiatric day clinic at St. Pölten University Hospital, and in June 2024, Dr. Fugger was appointed Head of Department (Primarius) of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapeutic Medicine at St. Pölten University Hospital.
Outside of his working hours at the hospital, Dr. Fugger is available to you as an elective doctor for comprehensive treatment without time pressure.
His therapy concept is integrative: this means not looking at and treating individual symptoms in isolation, but seeing the whole person within the context of their environment in terms of the bio-psycho-social disease model.
